Nelson Day Spa Treatments – Surviving our summer shutdown

December 10, 2025 by w b

The festive season is almost here, and the best little city in New Zealand is already buzzing with celebrations, sunshine, and social events. It is the most wonderful time of the year, although, sadly, there is one tiny challenge to navigate. Woman Beauty Day Spa, your favourite escape for relaxation, will be taking a little break too. We close at 2.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 24 December, and reopen for 2026 on Monday, 5 January. So how do you keep looking and feeling fabulous without your go-to spot for Nelson day spa treatments over the break? We’ve put together a three-step plan to survive the summer break while we head to the beach and enjoy a well-earned rest.

Nelson Day Spa Treatments

Secure your pre-holiday glow:

The smartest way to thrive without us is to book in before we close.

There are still a few appointment slots available for those who want pre-party perfection. Think smooth, hair-free legs for beach days, brows that behave in every holiday selfie, or a radiance-boosting facial to help you glow your way into the New Year. If you have been meaning to freshen up your gel manicure or simply unwind with a relaxing body treatment before family festivities begin, now is the time. You can request to book online HERE.

Stock up and keep the spa vibes at home:

Even when our doors are shut, your summer beauty routine does not have to take a holiday. Make sure you have stocked your bathroom shelf with seasonal essentials. SunEscape self-tan keeps skin sun-kissed and golden without the risk of UV overindulgence. Luxurious body scrubs, nourishing moisturisers, and a quality SPF will keep your skin soft, protected, and ready for the summer holiday. If you loved a particular cleanser or serum from your last visit, pick one up before we close so you can maintain your skin care results right through the holidays.

Home spa survival strategies:

While we cannot be there to pamper you in person, you can still recreate a little sanctuary of calm. Begin with a commitment to an at-home facial once or twice during the break (talk to us about perfect products). Keep a chilled eye mask in the fridge to revive tired eyes after late-night celebrations. Hydrate like a beauty pro, both on your skin and in your glass, because the sun and sparkling wine do not always get along. And if certain relatives become a little overwhelming, a quiet bath with a body oil and a podcast counts as a wellness moment worth celebrating.

See you in 2026!

We might be slipping away for a short summer breather, but your beauty routine does not need to miss a beat. Secure your spot now for those final Nelson day spa treatments and pop in to stock up on all your favourites before 24 December.

Thank you for visiting us throughout 2025. Enjoy the sparkle of the season, and we will see you again in January, refreshed and ready to face 2026 with you.

Introducing Emily Sheldon – Our new skin specialist!

July 10, 2024 by w b

We are delighted to welcome Emily Sheldon as our new manager at Woman. She brings with her years of experience managing salons in Australia. You may recognise Emily as she has been living and working in Nelson for over five years.

While Emily is our new manager, she will also be a practitioner. That’s great news for you, especially those with skin concerns, as Emily has plenty of experience in IPL skin rejuvenation, redness reduction, hair reduction, electrolysis, and all things skin. So, we are delighted to welcome her to the Woman team. We thought we’d introduce Emily by way of a short interview. Read on to find out more…

Emily Sheldon – Skin Specialist:

What experience do you bring to your new role at Woman?

I have worked full-time in the Beauty and Skin industry for fourteen years. I have managed and owned beauty and skin businesses and I’m delighted to be manager at Woman moving forward.

What specific treatments and areas do you specialise in?

I specialise in all things skin-related, including dermal skin needling, laser, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and sonophoresis. As a skin specialist, I’ve built up plenty of knowledge, which I love sharing with clients during treatments and consultations. After all, knowledge is power, and who doesn’t want more control over their skin and how it ages?

What do you love most about working in the beauty industry?

I love making a difference and helping my clients feel and look amazing. The industry is forever changing, so continued professional development is really important to me.

What are you most looking forward to as part of the Woman team?

I am looking forward to being part of a close-knit team where we can share knowledge and create excellent outcomes for our clients.

What do you love to do outside of work?

I am a very outdoorsy person. I have a large fluffy six-year-old Samoyed that I spend all of my time with. So we are normally out in the middle of nowhere exploring or boating down the Marlborough Sounds.

Ready to meet Emily in person?

INTRODUCTORY OFFER: MICRODERMABRASION CONSULT AND TREATMENT
Enjoy an in-depth 20-minute consultation followed by a 60-minute Microdermabrasion Facial.

You will receive a skin consultation, a peel, microdermabrasion, and a sonophoresis of serums.*

Microdermabrasion significantly improves skin texture, colour and consistency via gentle dead skin cell removal.

*Note: If Emily considers that microdermabrasion would not suit you at the consultation, she will choose other modalities on the day. These may include Hydrodermabrasion or our Omnilux LED machine.

JUST $140 – USUALLY $220 – YOU SAVE – $80

Introducing our new Senior Spa Therapist

June 22, 2023 by w b

We’re proud of our small but dedicated team of therapists at Woman Beauty in Nelson. We know that every one of them treats you, our clients, respectfully, skillfully and attentively. If you’re on our mailing list, you may have read in our latest newsletter about the arrival of Maddison Broome, our new Senior Spa Therapist. So, in this month’s article, we thought we’d share a more thorough introduction. Read on for Q & As with Maddie.

Introducing Maddison, our new Senior Spa Therapist:

Q: How did you become interested in becoming a spa therapist, and what inspired you to pursue this career path?

A: I have aspired to be a beautician and spa therapist since I was little. I love getting treatments and having a spa day myself. I have been inspired by incredible holistic healers I have had the privilege to learn from and practice with. Feeling good starts with feeling empowered to make changes; beauty delivers that in every aspect.

Q: What makes a truly exceptional day spa?

A: A truly exceptional day spa begins with a warm welcome and provides salon-quality treatments. As a spa therapist, it is essential to make your clients feel as comfortable and cosy as possible; you want to take them to a meditative, nurturing space. At Woman Beauty Day Spa, we present exceptional standards with our facilities, luxurious products and talented therapists.

Q: How do you approach creating a personalised experience for each client, considering their unique preferences and needs?

A: As a beauty and massage practitioner, I know it is essential to tailor treatments to clients’ needs and concerns. Therefore, educating on how a client’s skin is performing is always crucial. So, a skin diagnosis and treatment plan can make all the difference in achieving brighter, youthful, healthier skin.

Q: What do you consider to be the benefits of spa treatments?

A: Spa treatments aren’t just about relaxation. They help you feel confident, rejuvenated and, most importantly, discover a wonderful sense of well-being.

Q: Do you incorporate specific rituals, techniques, or practices into your spa treatments?

A: My background in high-end day spas across the South Island of New Zealand and Sydney, Australia, has broadened my perception of beauty and wellness. I have been fortunate to work alongside holistic specialists who have taught me everything I know about spa therapies. Incorporating aromatherapy into my treatments is something I love to do. I am also trained in all aspects of massage, which lets me connect with my clients and individualise my practice to meet their needs and concerns.

Q: What are you most enjoying about living in Nelson?

A: Moving to Nelson was always a goal for my family. We love being by the sea and being part of such a creative and kind community. We feel so welcomed and couldn’t be more happy with our decision.

Q: Finally, what are you most enjoying about working at Woman?

A: Being a part of the Woman Beauty Day Spa team is so lovely. After spending a few years working independently, it’s great to be back in the swing of things in a bubbly team-orientated environment. I love the boutique aesthetic and the loyalty Woman has built with its clients. I look forward to meeting new friendly faces every day and to seeing returning clients in the future.

If you’d like to meet Maddison and experience her expert skills as a Senior Spa Therapist, contact us to discover her availability.

Changes to the Traffic Light System & My Vaccine Passport

March 29, 2022 by w b

You will likely have seen the Government’s announcement on making life simpler and closer to normal as the Omicron outbreak nears its peak! So, we thought we would update you on what that means to your visits to Woman.

Changes to the Traffic Light System & My Vaccine Passport:

Important: For the rest of this week and until 4th April, all current measures will remain in place. After that there will be some changes, read on for all the details.

  • Firstly, we would like to reassure you that we continue to keep you as safe as possible while visiting the spa. Our entire team is fully vaccinated.
  • From the 4th April, we will no longer need to see your My Vaccine Pass. Also, you will no longer need to sign in upon arrival.
  • We will continue to wear face coverings and kindly request that you do too.

Our spa is fully open, including the Relaxation Lounge where we are, once again, able to serve refreshments. We can’t wait to welcome you!

We are currently short of staff, so we thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Our regular clients will know that we are currently short-staffed. We continue to look for fabulous people to join our top-class team, but like all good things, this takes time!

As a result, our reception may occasionally be unmanned. We try our best to keep these occasions to a minimum, so as not to inconvenience you. NOTE: Reception closures generally occur on Mondays so that we can see our regular clients.

If, during these rare occasions, you are trying to contact us, please leave a message on our phone at 548 0030 or email us. We will get back to you as soon as we can.

Remember, for your convenience, all vouchers can be purchased online and you can make booking requests from the link on our website.

We are taking steps to add products to our online store. But, in the meantime, if you require a product, please phone or email us and with a little notice, we can organise to have this ready for collection.

As an aside, we are celebrating the easing of restrictions with a fabulous Autumn Grab-A-Treat, buy yours HERE!

Traffic Light System

December 1, 2021 by w b

As you will undoubtedly be aware, from 11:59 pm on 2 December, New Zealand moves to the traffic light system under the COVID-19 Protection Framework. As a close contact business operating in an ‘orange’ setting, we will be implementing some changes. From Friday 3 December, we will need to sight your My Vaccine Pass before your treatment.

While we regret having to exclude anyone from our salon, we believe it is essential to comply fully with all legislation around introducing the traffic light system to keep you and our team safe.

What you need to do:

We will limit entry into the salon to fully vaccinated clients. We must be able to sight your ‘My Vaccine Pass’.

Please download your ‘My Vaccine Pass’ to your phone or bring a copy with you. There are three ways to get your My Vaccine Pass; online through My Covid Record, over the phone, and in-person at a pharmacy. Find out more HERE.

If you have an upcoming appointment but cannot show us your ‘My Vaccine Pass’, please contact us to cancel your booking.

We’re playing our part:

As per the close contact business guidelines, all of our team are vaccinated. We will also continue to wear face coverings and respectfully ask that you wear them too.

NO PASS = NO TREATMENT = NO SHOW RULES:

If you cannot produce your ‘My Vaccine Pass’, we will not be able to carry out your treatment. Under these circumstances, because your therapist will have set time aside to look after you, we will treat these cases as ‘no shows’ under our cancellation policy. This means any gift vouchers will be deemed void, and you may still need to pay for your treatment.*

*During this implementation period, we reserve the right to request payment at the time of booking.

Finally, if you have any questions, please call us on 03 548 0030. As ever, we’d like to thank you all for bearing with us at what is a challenging time for all businesses. We appreciate your efforts in keeping our client community and team safe.

Thursday 14th May – Our Nelson Day Spa will open!

May 12, 2020 by w b

We can’t wait to see you… When our Nelson Day Spa opens on Thursday!

A big thank you to everybody who has continued to support our business during the lockdown.

We’ve done a little happy dance every time you’ve purchased a voucher, filled out a survey form,  given us a thumbs up on Facebook or a ❤️ on Insta. Just knowing that you’ve been there for us has always made our day. And now it’s our turn to make yours…

It is with much excitement that we announce that we are re-opening the doors to Woman Beauty Day Spa this Thursday 14th May. Access will be strictly limited to those of you who have appointments. We regret that we are unable to accept walk-ins at this time.

Nelson Day Spa Open

A few changes to be aware of when our Nelson Day Spa opens on Thursday:

Things may be a little different for a while. We need to introduce a few new practices to keep you and our team safe. Read on to find out everything you need to know.

Arriving for your appointment:

  1. Please don’t arrive early for your appointment. Arrive at your scheduled appointment time and phone (03 548 0030) or text (using the mobile number in your appointment reminder) to let us know you have arrived. Your therapist will come outside to meet you.
  2. We will ask you to sanitise your hands before you enter the Spa. It is always normal procedure for our staff to wash or sanitise their hands before and after every appointment.
  3. Your name will be added to our ‘Contact Register’ upon arrival. It’s important that you come alone, please don’t bring children with you. We will be adopting a ‘no children’ policy as a long-term measure at Woman.

During your appointment:

  1. Both our Relax Lounge and Changing Area will remain closed for the time being. We will offer you the privacy you need to change for your appointment in your treatment room, and we’ll provide you with a safe and hygienic way to store your clothing and belongings while you have your treatment.
  2. Your therapist will wear a face-mask and gloves during your treatment. We have no plans to supply face-masks for our clients, but if you would feel more comfortable wearing a mask, we are happy for you to bring and wear your own.
  3. We are unable to serve water or beverages in the Spa, so please bring your own water, especially if you are having a massage.
  4. Testing products will only be handled by our team, please ask if you’d like to try anything.
  5. We offer contactless payment using ‘payWave’. But, if you would prefer to pre-pay for your treatment we can take payment over the phone or send you our bank details to pay by bank transfer (payment must be received at least 24 hours ahead of your treatment, should you wish to pay by bank transfer).
  6. Our building, including the bathroom, waiting area and working spaces, is always cleaned to the highest of standards. But we will continue to implement additional rotas for the cleaning of door handles and surfaces as an extra precaution.
  7. As usual, all of our equipment and tools are sanitised and cleaned after every use to maintain the highest levels of hygiene.

And Finally:

Finally, and most importantly, if you are feeling unwell, please do not visit us. Do call at your earliest convenience and we will be happy to reschedule your appointment, in line with our cancellation policy.

Delene & Bridgette will be in the Day Spa on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to ensure everything is ready for your appointments from Thursday 14th May.

The phone lines will be manned on both Tuesday (12th) and Wednesday (13th) between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Call 03 548 0030 to make your appointment, or contact us HERE.
