Brow Lamination @ Woman Beauty in Nelson

Our lovely Sammy has recently spent three months training to bring a new treatment to our central Nelson spa. Read on for all the details on brow lamination.

Brow Lamination:

Brow lamination is useful for correcting hairs that grow in an unusual or unwanted direction. It can also create symmetry or give your brows a fuller, fluffier, or feathery look.

If you’ve had a lash lift, you’ll be familiar with the process of this treatment. We apply an initial alkaline chemical solution to the brow hairs and let it act for 5 – 10 minutes. This lowers the natural pH levels of the brow hairs, causing them to become softer and easier to style and position. After this, we brush the neutralizer through the brows in the correct shape once the initial solution has finished processing for the recommended amount of time (5 – 8 minutes). This restores the pH levels of the hair and strengthens any damaged bonds. The lamination effect is achieved by brushing or straightening the brow hairs after the solution has been left on for a particular period.

The whole treatment takes around 30 – 45 minutes, depending on the thickness of your brows. We can tint your brows at the same appointment; we do this after the brow lamination process.

Results:

Results are instant:

This treatment will immediately make your brows appear fuller, thicker, and more defined while creating symmetry or correction for hairs that follow a unique or undesirable direction.
We will treat your brows so you can groom them easily at home. However, you must brush and style your brows daily to maintain the desired results.
The results last for the duration of the natural brow growth cycle, which can be 90 days or longer.

Aftercare:

Do not use oil-based or strong makeup removers for the first 48 hours after a lamination, as they may strip the tint colour or damage the direction of the brow lamination.
Avoid touching, stroking or playing with your brow hairs. Try to leave them alone as much as possible.
Avoid wetting the brows for the first 48 hours.
Do not use retinol, steroid creams, exfoliators or skin-thinning treatments after the service for 48 hours.
After wetting the brows after the 48-hour waiting period, ensure you brush the hairs back into the desired position.

Eyebrow and eyelash treatments – At-home maintenance between professional appointments

Gentle cleansing:

Use a dedicated and gentle cleanser for your sensitive eye area. We love Ultraceuticals, Ultra Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover, which delicately cleanses and nourishes to remove dirt, makeup, and any residue.

Preparing a perfect canvas:

Well-groomed eyebrows and long eyelashes will frame your eyes and draw attention to them. A well-defined brow and tinted lashes can balance and enhance the proportions of your face. Less tweezing, more brushing:

The odd stray hair might inevitably grow outside your perfectly groomed brows between appointments. But resist the temptation to excessively pluck and tweeze with care. Instead, use a clean brow brush to comb through your brows and keep them in shape.

Fight the fade:

As the tint inevitably starts to fade, we have a couple of Jane Iredale products at our Nelson salon that can be used at home to maintain the fresh salon look we know you love.

First, the Jane Iredale brow gel comes in three shades: brunette, blonde or clear. The brow gel is essentially a mascara product for your brows. So, it will give them a boost of colour while taming stray hairs into place.

Also useful are Jane Iredale’s retractable brow pencils. These come in a range of brunettes and blondes to suit your hair and brow colours. They are great for filling in any sparse brow areas needing extra help. You’ll find them easy to use because they have a crayon tip as opposed to a pencil tip, which can give a harsh line on the brow.

Super serums:

Finally, invest in a serum to condition and nourish your eyebrows and eyelashes. We love Lash Fridays Brow and Lash Growth Serums, the perfect at-home eye treatment between professional treatments. Results from Lash Fridays’ serums typically appear within 3-8 weeks. This will vary from person to person. How to get Perfect Party Eyes

Frame your Face:

Your eyebrows frame your face, so well-groomed brows are a great place to begin. An eyebrow tidy and tint at our Nelson Spa takes just 20 minutes. But if you haven’t managed to find time for an appointment, don’t worry because other options are available! Jane Iredale Brow Products have all been revamped and are now reformulated for better colour and longer-lasting wear.

The PureBrow™ Precision Pencil will add definition, fill gaps and balance asymmetrical brows.
The PureBrow™ Shaping Pencil is double-sided. Use the thicker side of the pencil to create shape and fill brows and the finer side to outline and create definition.

Luscious Lashes:

Prepare to Party:

Start with a neutral base before you add colour. Use a primer and/or a light dusting of translucent powder.
Always build your colour from light to dark. But remember, you don’t have to overcomplicate things. Sometimes you might choose a neutral matte or shimmer shadow and blend one shade all over your lid.
Use a setting spray for party staying power!

At Woman Beauty Nelson we’re only too aware that full, fluffy, natural eyebrows are having a bit of a moment! That doesn’t mean you should let your brows get out of control. But, it does mean you need to be careful not to over tweeze! When it comes to removing hairs from the brow line, we always believe less is more. If you’re unsure of how much you should be taking or leaving, come and see us and we can help find the right balance for you.

If you have over-plucked in the past, don’t despair. A good tint will always help enhance what you have, giving a much fuller look to the brow.

We also stock Revitalash. A hair growth serum for eyelashes and eyebrows that promotes growth where it is applied, we have seen some fantastic results with this product.

Face up to brows:

Face shape matters a lot when it comes to eyebrows. What works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. It’s all about perfecting a great set of brows to frame and flatter your face.

Professional eyebrow shaping versus DIY:

The great thing about popping into the spa to get your eyebrows shaped is that it comes with a bonus lie down! Seriously though, it can be tough to get your brows to look even if you’re doing the job yourself. We, however, can take a view of both brows from above to get them as even as possible! So, you’re less likely to fall foul of the dreaded over tweeze attempting to balance your own eyebrows.

As well as super shaping, we can also tint your eyebrows. We’ll help you choose the right tint to flatter your complexion and hair colour.

We recommend a tint and tidy every four to six weeks to keep your brows looking super smart.

Making the most of your Woman Beauty Nelson brow treatments:

When your tint is first applied, we recommend that you don’t wet or cleanse the area for twenty-four hours. We also suggest you continue to avoid exfoliation of the area to keep that fresh, filled in look.

As the tint inevitably starts to fade, we have a range of Jane Iredale products that can be used at home to maintain the fresh salon look we know you love.

First up, the Jane Iredale brow gel comes in three shades: brunette, blonde or clear. The brow gel is essentially a mascara product but for your brows. So it will give them a boost of colour while also taming any stray hairs into place.
