Can Spa Treatments help with Menopause Symptoms?

October 17, 2024 by w b

World Menopause Day is held every year on 18 October. With that just around the corner, we thought we would answer a question clients often ask us: Can spa treatments help with menopause symptoms? While we’ll never overpromise, and we can’t guarantee that spa treatments will alleviate all menopause symptoms. Some therapies can provide a holistic approach to managing some of the physical and emotional challenges associated with menopause. Read on to discover more.

Can Spa Treatments help with menopause symptoms?

Massage:

  • Feel-good therapy: Menopause often brings with it increased stress, anxiety, and mood swings. As our therapists work their magic, blood flow increases, stimulating the release of those feel-good hormones, serotonin and dopamine.
  • Say farewell to joint pain: Many women experience muscle aches, joint pain, and headaches during menopause. A good massage will reduce muscle tension and release tightness in muscles and joints.
  • Catch some Zzzzs: Massage can promote relaxation and help improve sleep quality, which menopause symptoms like night sweats or anxiety can disrupt.

Facials:

  • Get your glow on: Hormonal changes during menopause can lead to dry or sensitive skin. Ultraceuticals have designed their Calming Facial to moisturise, calm, soothe, and reduce sensitivity. Buy yours HERE.
  • Get your bounce back: A decline in estrogen levels leads to decreased skin elasticity and firmness. Dermapen Electronic Collagen Induction Therapy can help increase collagen and elastin production, resurface, retexture, and overall skin renewal. For best results we recommend a course of treatments. Prices start at $350 with packages available on request.

Body Rituals:

  • Slough for cell turnover: Ever wonder why you get dry, itchy legs? Those hormonal changes are at it again! Our Tropical Paradise Ritual offers a full-body exfoliation using the award-winning Pure Fiji Sugar Scrub, followed by a relaxing massage with exotic oil. Your body is then enveloped with body butter and covered to promote hydration.

Mindfulness and Relaxation:

  • Finally, simply stepping through the doors to our beautiful day spa will help you relax. We’re well known for the calming and nurturing environment we offer all our clients.

How do I get rid of wrinkles without injectables?

October 2, 2024 by w b

“How do I get rid of wrinkles without injectables?” Our clients often ask us this question. If you’ve asked yourself this question, read on because this article will answer it!

But before we answer that burning question, let’s look at what causes wrinkles in the first place.

Firstly, it’s a universally acknowledged truth that wrinkles will begin to form as you age. Your skin produces less collagen protein, so it naturally loses its elasticity and becomes thinner. However, lifestyle factors, including excess sun exposure and smoking, can also contribute to wrinkle formation.

How do I get rid of wrinkles without injectables?

There are a few ways you can help your skin without needing injectables, but patience is vital in reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Microdermabrasion:

Microdermabrasion can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The gentle removal of dead skin cells stimulates collagen production and promotes skin cell renewal. It may not eliminate deep wrinkles, but regular treatments can improve skin texture and minimise fine lines, giving the skin a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Diamond Microdermabrasion with Hydrodermabrasion:

We can also combine microdermabrasion with hydrodermabrasion. This power-packed treatment infuses active products with a combination of microdermabrasion and hydrodermabrasion! This effective combination allows us to transform your skin. You’ll see renewed luminosity and visible results.

Dermapen Electronic Collagen Induction Therapy:

Dermapen (microneedling) can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Our Dermapen 4 glides over the skin, creating millions of fine fractional channels up to 104% faster than other micro-needling methods. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper into the skin. In turn, your body’s natural response triggers a natural repair process. The result is increased collagen and elastin production, resurfacing, retexturing and overall skin renewal.

Choosing Your Treatment:

All these treatments require a complimentary consultation first to determine the most suitable treatment for you. All of these solutions will generally require a course of treatment.

How do I get rid of wrinkles without injectables? Recommended Products:

Use topical retinol in your nighttime regime. Ultraceuticals offers a range of products containing their proprietary Retinome technology® (advanced Retinol stabilisation and delivery technology) microparticles. This powerful ingredient helps to address signs of ageing:

  1. Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum Mild: This is a gentle formulation for first-time retinol users. It helps refine skin texture and reduce signs of ageing.
  2. Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum: A more potent version with higher levels of retinol, ideal for those seeking more intense anti-ageing benefits.
  3. Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum Concentrate: The most potent concentration of retinol in the Ultra A range, designed for advanced users seeking maximum improvement in skin tone, fine lines, and wrinkles.

SPF is also essential in your fight against wrinkles.

Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50 Hydrating: This hydrating, non-whitening, lightweight sunscreen formula protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays to help prevent premature skin ageing.

Lifestyle Factors:

  1. Sleep right to minimise wrinkles: After sunlight and UV exposure, the second most prominent cause of wrinkles is sleeping. Don’t give up sleeping, but… Squishing your face into a pillow for approximately 2,500 hours per year while you sleep is like ironing wrinkles into the skin. Try using a silk pillowcase and strategically positioning your face to help minimise wrinkles.
  2. Quit smoking: Giving up smoking can help prevent premature wrinkles, as smoking reduces blood flow to the skin, depletes collagen, and accelerates the ageing process.

We hope this has helped answer your question, “How do I get rid of wrinkles without injectables?” The best way to get an answer is to visit us for a consultation. Contact us to arrange yours.

Dermapen 4 Treatment – All the details!

September 16, 2019 by w b

At Woman Beauty in Nelson, we’re delighted to be able to offer you the revolutionary Dermapen 4 treatment. This micro-needling device aims to tighten, lift and rejuvenate skin.

How it works:

A Dermapen 4 treatment uses multiple needles that pierce the skin vertically. This process enhances rejuvenation results and is far safer for you because there is much less epidermal damage.

The device glides over the skin, creating millions of fine fractional channels up to 104% faster than other micro-needling methods. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper into the skin. In turn, your body’s natural response triggers a natural process of repair. The result is an increased production of collagen and elastin, resurfacing, retexturizing and overall skin renewal anywhere on the body. We can use Dermapen 4 on delicate, hard to reach areas such as around the eyes, eyelids, earlobes, neck, lips, nose. Alternatively, the treatment is effective on larger areas, such as the neck and décolletage, or stomach and legs for stretch mark treatments.

Dermapen 4 can be as effective as ablative treatments such as fractional laser, IPL, laser resurfacing and chemical peels, without the adverse side effects and downtime.

What Dermapen 4 can be used for:

  • Skin tightening
  • Natural collagen induction
  • Lifting and rejuvenation
  • Reducing wrinkles and fine lines
  • Reducing pigmentation and sun damage
  • Improving stretch marks
  • Hair regeneration
  • Reducing acne scars, surgical scars and wound healing
  • Minimising pore size

The benefits of Dermapen 4:

  • More effective treatments with less pain
  • Less epidermal damage
  • Dermapen 4 treatment has a superior effect on collagen and elastin rejuvenation
  • Offers effective treatment in hard-to-reach places
  • Promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction
  • Tightening, lifting and rejuvenation of the skin
  • Induces natural collagen production
  • Heals scars caused by acne and wounds
  • Reduces wrinkles and fine lines around the face and other areas.
  • Reducing stretch marks incurred during pregnancy or due to obesity
  • Improves overall skin tone and texture
  • Improves skin texture on the neck

Dermapen 4 FAQs:

Is the treatment painful?

Unlike traditional dermal rolling techniques, the Dermapen 4 is the most comfortable micro-needling treatment available, thanks to advanced technology and design. There is no need for any topical anaesthetic cream (TLA), just lie back and enjoy the stunning results.

How should I prepare my skin for treatment?

At Woman Beauty Nelson, we offer an initial consultation before your Dermapen 4 treatment. For optimal results, we’ll recommend an appropriate home care regime that encourages your skin to prepare and strengthen.

How many treatments are recommended for rejuvenation, acne scarring and stretch marks?

  • Rejuvenation*: 3-6 treatments 6-8 weeks apart
  • Acne scarring: 4-6 treatments 6-8 weeks apart
  • Stretch marks: 4-8 treatments 6-8 weeks apart
  • Pigmentation: 4-6 treatments 2-4 weeks apart

*Superficial treatments may be recommended at four-weekly intervals.

How soon after filler/muscle relaxant injections can I have a treatment?

While there is no clinical evidence that Dermapen 4 treatments counteract with any particular injectables, it is essential to let us know if you have had an injectable treatment or are planning one shortly. With this information, we can let you know when to schedule your treatment appropriately.

How long should it take before I see results?

Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will become visible after 3 to 6 treatments (spaced 2-8 weeks apart). The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments, especially when combined with our recommended post-treatment care.

Is there any downtime?

You may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Our Woman Beauty Nelson skin therapists will provide you with post-treatment information and products.

How much will it cost?

Regular price for face and neck $299 (per treatment).

For face, neck and décolletage $350 (per treatment).

Other areas by consultation.

However, (as at the date of writing 16th September 2019) we have decided to continue our Dermapen 4 introductory offer for any new clients that would like to get started. Book and pay for three treatments and get one free.

All treatments require a consultation and consent form to be filled out before treatment to make sure you are suitable for the treatment. This initial consultation is complimentary. The regular price also includes post-treatment cream after the first treatment.

Finally, how much time should be scheduled for an appointment?

Treatment time is approximately 1 hour.
