Skin Care Tips from Emily

November 6, 2024 by w b

Many of you will have already met our new Manager, Emily. Emily specialises in all things skin-related, including dermal skin needling, laser, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and sonophoresis. As a skin specialist, she has built up plenty of knowledge, which she loves sharing with clients during treatments and consultations. Today, she’s sharing four skin care tips with you. Read on to discover them!

Skin Care Tips from Emily

1: Layer Like a Boss!

Your skin is like a fine mesh. You must layer products accordingly, or you will not get the benefits from them. If you apply products in a different order, you risk them simply sitting on the skin like a glad wrap effect and not absorbing at all.

One of the biggest skincare mistakes is applying products in the wrong order, which can lead to poor absorption and wasted products. Here’s the correct order to follow for maximum effectiveness:

  • Start with the smallest molecule: Your treatment serum should be applied first, as it’s typically the lightest and can penetrate deeply into the skin.
  • Follow with eye cream and moisturiser: After your serum, apply your eye cream and then a moisturiser. This helps seal in the serum while providing hydration and nourishment.
  • Finish with facial oils: If you use facial oils, they should be the final step after moisturiser. Oils help lock in moisture and create a barrier that prevents water loss.

2. Skin-Saving Vitamin Serums

Complete nutrition for the epidermis is critical. The epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin) is an essential protective structure that uses 23 vitamins. These vitamins must be provided at therapeutic concentrations and delivered within the epidermis for optimum skin health.

Vitamins protect your skin from environmental stressors and boost skin renewal and overall resilience.

Talk to us about the Ultraceuticals range of vitamin serums.

3. Plump Up with Peptides

Peptides are potent allies in the fight against wrinkles and fine lines, especially around delicate areas like the eyes. When applied topically, peptides help stimulate collagen production, reducing the appearance of lines and crow’s-feetcrow’s-feet.

So, look for serums and moisturisers containing specific peptides that support your skin’s natural structure. Regular use can improve skin elasticity and keep your complexion youthful and firm.

Each Ultraceuticals Ultra B² Hydrating Eye Mask is soaked in a Peptide (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8) combined with Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and Panthenol to plump, hydrate, and smooth the delicate eye area. It’s the ultimate SOS eye mask for reviving dull, tired under-eyes.

4. Sleep Right and say ”So Long” to Wrinkles

While UV exposure is the number one cause of wrinkles, how you sleep is another factor to consider. Pressing your face against a pillow for around 2,500 hours a year can create deep sleep lines that become permanent wrinkles. A silk pillowcase is gentler on the skin and can help reduce friction.

We hope you’ve discovered something new in Emily’s skin care tips. If you need more tailored advice, contact us for a full consultation.
